חוֹמֶרII (הוֹמֶר Ar.) m. (חָמַר I; v. P. Sm. 1310 s. v. הומרא) ( whatever joins or is joined, bead, little ball (bulla) hung around the neck; jewel, clasp, seal; trnsf. כמין ח׳ like a jewel, i. e. a precious ethical principle (cmp. Prov. 1:9, a. מַרְגְּלִיתָא), a symbol. Kidd.22b היה דורש … כמין ח׳ interpreted this in a symbolical way (giving the practical Biblical law about perforating the slaves ear an ethical signification); Mekh.
